Retreat summary:

Our September Pro Angler Retreat at Grand Lake was a blast! It was an awesome few days packed with fishing, filming, great food, and even better company.

We were stoked to have 2X 2025 Bassmaster Elite Champion, Pat Schlapper, join us for this one. Blake Capps returned for his second retreat, ready to grab even more content and always makes these retreats a lot more fun. We also had the pleasure of hosting Army Bass Angler and owner of Willie Pete’s Swimbaits, Brent Hill, who came out to shoot content for him and his sponsors.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Creating Outdoors retreat without some amazing eats. Big thanks to competitive BBQ’r and Hooked Media owner, Brian Hayes, for keeping us well-fed all week long — the guy knows the industry and can seriously cook.

And when the sun went down, the fun didn’t stop. Our late-night Fenix flashlight shoots were a blast, thanks to one of our retreat host, Sean, who cranked up the creativity (and the smoke machine) for some unforgettable shots.

While getting killer video content for the anglers is always the main goal, we can’t say enough about the after-hours community that happens at these retreats. The laughs, stories, and time spent hanging out together are what make these trips special — and it’s easily one of the best parts of what we do.

Retreat summary:

The 2025 Spring Angler Retreat on Grand Lake in Oklahoma was a resounding success, blessed with perfect weather that allowed our videographers to capture plenty of high-quality content for the pro anglers in attendance. Days were spent on the water, while evenings brought everyone together around the fire pit for laughs, cold beers, delicious food, and valuable industry networking.

A highlight of the retreat was the debut of the “Hooked on Heat” Challenge Podcast — a spicy new addition that tested anglers' tolerance for hot sauce while sparking fun and insightful conversations about the fishing industry. It was a perfect blend of heat, humor, and heartfelt stories.

This retreat truly delivered on every front — content creation, connection, and camaraderie.

Creator Retreat // Oct. 1 - 4, 2024

Retreat summary:

The 2024 Outdoor Retreat was an incredible success that brought us closer to the heart of the fishing industry. We filmed live action on the water, capturing authentic challenges and refining our skills alongside other passionate videographers and industry pros from all around the USA. The beautiful Grand Lake setting and hands-on filming helped us build valuable connections and improve our craft, while still having some fun along the way.

Evenings were spent around the campfire, enjoying drinks, great food (steak night was the best), and inspiring conversations with anglers Jason Christie and Luke Palmer. Their stories and insights were invaluable, and the relaxed setting made it easy to connect and learn from one another. This retreat was a perfect mix of learning, networking, and memorable experiences that will help us elevate our careers.
